Gold trading calculators
Five precise tools to plan XAU/USD trades, from position size to pivot points.
Position size
Calculate the exact lot size for a fixed rand risk so one trade never hurts your account more than planned.
02Pip value
See what one pip (0.01 on XAU/USD) is worth in rands for any lot size and account currency.
03Margin
Check the margin required for a gold position at different leverage levels before you commit capital.
04Profit / loss
Turn your entry and exit prices into a clear profit or loss in pips and rands, including costs.
05Pivot points
Plot support and resistance from the prior session to spot where gold may react today.
What these calculators answer
The calculators on this page answer the exact questions a gold trader in South Africa faces before opening a position: how many lots to trade so a stop loss costs a chosen rand amount, what each 0.01 movement is worth in R, and how much margin FxPro will require at your leverage. They work off live XAU/USD prices and let you set your account in rand, so the output matches an EFT-funded account without manual conversion.
Reach for the position size calculator when your main concern is controlling risk to a fixed rand amount, and the pip value calculator when you want to know the rand impact of a one-pip move. The margin calculator is the one to check before placing any trade, and the profit/loss calculator helps you project a realistic target. The pivot calculator is for session planning, not for predicting the next move.
How they chain together
The calculators form a logical chain that starts with risk and ends with a trade you can monitor. Decide how many rands you are willing to lose on the trade, then use the position size calculator to turn that risk into a lot size based on your stop distance. The output respects one standard lot as 100 oz of gold, so a 0.10 lot position is 10 oz and each 0.01 move is worth about $0.10 before rand conversion.
Once you have the lot size, run the margin calculator to confirm the position fits your available balance at your chosen leverage, then use the profit/loss calculator to set a realistic target and the pivot calculator to mark intraday levels. Because each tool consumes the output of the previous one, a trader can go from a simple risk budget to a complete trade plan in under a minute, all in rand and without guessing at conversions.
Free and set for South Africa
Every calculator here is free to use with no sign-up and no data stored, and they are preconfigured for a South African trader: amounts display in rand, EFT is treated as the normal funding method, and the reference price is XAU/USD at about 4275.0. You can still override any field if you trade a different gold CFD or want to test a scenario, but the defaults match a typical FxPro account opened from South Africa.
Session settings default to the hours when London and New York overlap, which is when gold is most liquid and spreads tend to be tightest for South African traders. The calculators do not include any spread or commission number because those change with market conditions; they give you the clean arithmetic so you can compare it with the live quote on your platform and make your own judgement.
